Winter Skin Essentials: How I Stay Soft & Smooth

The weather has been very odd here on the East Coast and my skin is feeling the FULL effects. It’s been itchy, dry, oily, patchy, red. My skin has been actin’ up! I’ve been trying to focus a little bit more time and energy on caring for my skin, one of my intentions for the year is to be consistent with a skin care routine. I haven’t had ‘bad’ skin in a really long time, like middle school. But, I do have quite a bit of redness, large (ish) pores, so I want to get that glowing, healthy skin hunny.

I have been aiming to wash and moisturize my face twice daily and use a face mask 1-2 times weekly. I always wash my face with my Electric Vibrating Sonic Facial and Body Cleansing Brush Face Brush Waterproof Skin Exfoliating Cleansing System for Deep Cleaning 4 Mode Settings with 3 Brush Heads and Neutrogena Ultra Gentle Daily Cleanser, Foaming Formula, 354ml. Then moisturize my face + body with Soft Moisturizing Body Cream 50ml by Nivea.

As for face masks, I have been using Freeman face masks for years! I have two and love them for different reasons. I use Freeman Facial Sweet Tea & Lemon Peel Away Clay Mask 6 Ounce (177ml) once a week + Bioré Deep Cleansing Charcoal Pore Strip 8 ct to really detox and get rid of makeup and dirt from my pores (gross, I know). I then try and use either the Bioré Deep Cleansing Charcoal Pore Strip 8 ct to hydrate OR the Freeman Facial Charcoal & Black Sugar Polish Mask 6 Ounce (177ml). Of course, followed by a nice THIC moisturizer for those cold winter nights we’ve been having (well except for the 3 days it rained…).

As for the rest of my body, I have been using the St. Ives body wash along with the Soft Moisturizing Body Cream 50ml by Nivea. I then use a nice hydrating foot cream and put my cozy slippers on. The one I have been using came in one of those like holiday packs. Its from the brand Upper Canada Soap . Its a vanilla mint, it smells really good and keeps my feet silky and smooth.  When I was a little kid I had SUCH dry and flakey skin in the winter.  It was actually pretty painful and I would have to turn to medicated ointments and what not. BUT, since going vegan I have had much better skin and my eczema is non-existent.

These products have been my go to lately! Since I’ve finished school I feel OK spending more time on my skincare. If you follow me on Instagram (you should) you will know I have been taking my fair share of baths as well. I’ve been using bath bombs and bath salts which is not only relaxing, but also moisturizing and soothing to the skin. I love Epsom salts since they are naturally detoxifying. I use them if I feel a cold coming on or if I am just feeling like I need a deep cleanse. If you use them, make sure to drink plenty of water before, during, and after! They draw so much out of you that it can be dehydrating and actually make you feel kind of sick. So, hydrate! Plus it’s good for the skin hunny.
